Background

The Trump regime's latest attack on mail-in voting comes in the form of a proposed U.S. Postal Service regulation. The proposal would transform USPS from a neutral mail carrier into a gatekeeper with power over who gets to vote by mail.

Under the rule, states would have to hand over lists of mail voters so that USPS could screen ballots for eligibility. In states that don’t comply with the regulation, USPS might refuse to deliver mail ballots entirely. (The full text of the proposed regulation is here.) It’s yet another attempt to use the excuse of “election security” to disenfranchise Democrats, who disproportionately vote by mail.

California and 22 other states are suing to block the executive order behind this scheme, and the NAACP has filed a challenge to the proposed rule. Now it's our turn to act. Each of us can submit a comment in opposition to this blatantly anti-democratic effort.
