Action teams are where the real magic happens—where the real work of defending democracy takes place. Working in decentralized teams allows IPA+ members to divvy up our work while also building community. It's what enables us to honor our core value of focused impact.
We have teams that cover different issues areas and teams that pursue specific outreach or visibility opportunities. No matter what your talent, your capacity, or your area of interest may be, there is an action team where you can find your place in the Resistance.
Are you ready to join one (or more) of our action teams? Or maybe you want to start your own team! If so, drop us an email. We can tell you more about each team, answer any questions that you have, and connect you with team leaders.

Make art while making friends—and making a difference. Join projects and workshops to practice freedom of expression and to support resistance efforts. Projects include Democracy Rocks, Get It Out, and more.

Join regular peaceful, fun-filled protests that target tech oligarchs. Take a stand against billionaires who threaten democracy by attending weekly events at Stanford Shopping Center and at the Tesla showroom in Palo Alto.

Fight against Big Tech oligarchs and companies that align with fascism, threaten our privacy, and exploit our data. Protect our digital privacy through workshops and online collaboration. (To join this team, you must be on Signal.)

Boost the visibility of key messages by posting banners on highway overpass bridges in Palo Alto (as well as Cupertino and Sunnyvale). Promote local and national events, and help build our movement—one driver at a time.

Identify and respond to local and national threats to voting rights and election integrity before, during, and after the 2026 midterm elections. Coordinate IPA+ efforts to support the national Hands Off Our Vote initiative.

Protect immigrant communities from raids, detentions, and kidnappings. Mobilize support and take direct action to defend the safety and the rights of our neighbors. (To join this team, you must be on Signal.)

Write postcards to voters, legislators, and community members to inspire civic action and to affect election outcomes. Participate in online or in-person postcarding sessions, or write postcards from home at your own pace.

Engage in silent street theater to highlight alarming indicators of an authoritarian takeover. Gather in high-traffic areas, and hold stark, simple signs that present a list of dangers that people can’t easily ignore or explain away.

Work to remove mass surveillance systems from our communities. Advocate directly to local governments to remove ALPR (automated license plate reader) and other technologies that threaten our privacy.

Advocate for trans rights and amplify trans voices in our community. Fight against rising transphobia, and help create safe, affirming spaces for all. (To join this team, you must be on Signal.)

Mobilize communities, defend free and fair elections, and turn out voters for the midterm election. Join canvassing, phone banking, and other efforts to win the House and Senate.

Meet young people where they are and support local youth activists. Reach out to young music fans at major concert events, and make connections with local high school and college students.
