Background

We’ve all seen the horrifying videos and photos of thuggish, masked ICE officers manhandling and detaining residents. Senators Alex Padilla and Booker have introduced a bill called the The Visible Identification Standards for Immigration-Based Law Enforcement (VISIBLE) Act of 2025 —S. 2212, and Senator Adam Schiff is a co-sponsor.

This bill would:

require immigration officers to display clear identification
Ban the wearing of face coverings
Require DHS to establish disciplinary procedures for violations

Let’s thank our Senators for being out in front on this issue, and urge our Representatives to co-sponsor similar legislation in the House.
