The 2026 midterm election represents our next, best chance to achieve real, lasting impact in the long struggle against MAGA extremism. The current national nightmare will not end as long as Trump and his wrecking crew retain control of the federal government. But this November, we have an opportunity to turn the authoritarian tide. Nothing that we do between now and January 2029 will have a greater impact on reducing the cruelty, corruption, criminality, and anti-constitutional behavior of the Trump regime than helping to elect a pro-democracy Congress.
Indivisible Palo Alto Plus (IPA+) and Blue Turn Indivisible (BTI) are collaborating on a campaign called Take Bake Congress. The campaign is unfolding in a sequence of four steps—four calls to action for the pro-democracy community.
Polls close at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3.

Voting early carries many advantages. It helps election workers process ballots speedily. It liberates you to focus on campaign efforts ahead of the election. It “banks” votes in a way that foils election sabotage schemes. For a complete guide to the mechanics of voting—and voting early—in California, visit our Vote Early (Make It Count) page. (A Spanish version—Vota Temprano— is also available.)
Voting in California is relatively easy: If you are an active registered voter, your county will automatically mail a ballot to you during the week of October 5. However, completing the long California ballot can be a challenge.
Make a plan to track, receive, research, complete, and submit your ballot—and give yourself plenty of time to finish those steps well before Election Day.
The State of California provides a convenient portal—Where’s My Ballot?—where you can track when your ballot was mailed to you, when it has been received after you submit it, and when it was counted as an official vote.
If you do not receive your ballot within a week of when it was sent, you should contact the state to make other arrangements.
To complete your ballot, you will need to make choices in elections for local and statewide office and for various ballot propositions. Take time to research those sections of the ballot.
Our Ballot Parties team is developing an online resource that will feature nonpartisan voting guides for several local communities. In addition, IPA+ will be sharing endorsement guidance from Blue Voter Guide and other sources.
Because of uncertainty related to handling of mailed ballots by the U.S. Postal Service, we strongly encourage you to submit your ballot by depositing it in an official drop box.
You can also submit your ballot in person at an official voting center. Selected voting centers open on October 24, and others open on October 31. Use this map to find the nearest drop box or the nearest voting center.
Set a date by which you will submit your ballot. October 17—No Kings: Vote Early Day—is a good target date. If you have no alternative to submitting your vote by mail, we recommend putting you ballot in the mail no later than October 27.
If you have any questions about the logistics of voting early, visit the official Vote Early, California! page. And remember: If necessary, you can also submit your ballot on Election Day (November 3)
Indivisible CA StateStrong, a statewide coalition of Indivisible groups, has issued recommendations on all statewide ballot propositions. Indivisible Palo Alto Plus supports those endorsements. IPA+ also directs voters to Blue Voter Guide for guidance on endorsements for local races and local propositions. (Blue Turn Indivisible does not issue endorsements of any kind.)
Completing and submitting your own ballot truly matters. But as a member of our community, you also have the power to affect the election outcome by encouraging other Americans—both locally and nationally—to vote and to vote early. We have organized several action teams that are working to make everyone’s vote count. Please join us! That way, you’ll be sure that you did all that you could to help Take Back Congress.

The Ballot Parties team is developing a comprehensive guide to voting in local elections. Along with posting information on a website, the team will help organize events where attendees can complete their ballots.

The Central Valley GOTV team is providing support to community-based organizations that work tor register voters and to get out the vote in California's 22nd Congressional District—a key race that will help determine control of Congress.

The Dialing for Democracy team is supporting in-person phone banking events that target voters in key swing districts and Senate battleground states. Events take place at the Democratic Volunteer Center in Mountain View.

The Election Defense team is preparing to respond to election sabotage threats that occur before, on, and after November 3. The team urges community members to pledge that they will defend election integrity by engaging in mass action. (See below.)

The Visibility team is working to spread the “vote early” message by activating new and existing groups that excel at raising awareness in public spaces. Efforts include Suffragists: Vote Early and RearView Resistance.
There are many ways to take part in our Take Back Congress campaign. Just fill out the form below. We’ll then connect you with a volunteer opportunity that works for you.
From now through November , new donations to IPA+ will go toward funding the work of our Take Back Congress teams.

Voting is worth celebrating! Join us on No Kings: Vote Early Day for a family-friendly neighborhood celebration of early voting and civic participation. Festivities will include music, activities for kids, voting information and community organization tables, and a bit of joyful civic silliness.

After we vote, and then get out the (early!) vote, and then celebrate our right to vote, we have one more thing to do—defend the vote. The Trump regime and its MAGA allies in states across the country have signaled their intent: If they do not like the results of a free and fair election, they will try to thwart the will of the American people.
You can pledge now to take action to defend the election. We invite you to resolve—in the spirit of the pledge below—to stand in solidarity with any and all voters nationwide who face threats to the integrity of their vote.
When officials threaten election integrity by crossing key red lines, we will send alerts via Signal. Join the Red Line Alerts channel now. (Not on Signal yet? Download it now.)
I believe in the shared American values of freedom, justice, and the peaceful transfer of power. I believe that every vote should be counted and the will of the voters respected.
I know that there are serious risks to the upcoming election, including voter suppression, unlawful seizure of ballots, obstruction of lawful certification, and refusal to seat democratically elected leaders.
Therefore, I pledge to defend our elections—if possible, by joining targeted, peaceful protests as well as sustained economic noncooperation—until lawful election processes are allowed to proceed, until lawful election results are honored, and until those elected by voters are able to take office.
