Make Your Calls

call to action for May 19, 2025

Background

The sweeping reconciliation package that Republicans in Congress are putting together continues to wind its way through the legislative process. A version of the bill failed to gain passage last week, but Republicans won’t give up. They’re determined to jam through a package that includes not only vicious cuts to essential programs but also a series of provisions that attack policies and values that we hold dear—from an assault on judicial independence to a brutal limitation on eligibility for the child tax credit. Let’s remind our Senators and Congresspeople of where we stand.

Call Your Senators

Alex Padilla | 202-224-3553

Adam Schiff | 202-224-3841

Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [your zip code]. My name is [your full name].

I’m deeply opposed to the Republican reconciliation package. The cuts to Medicaid and SNAP are bad enough—but that’s just the start. Senator [name] must do everything possible to stop this bill.

I oppose the provision that would give a blank check to AI companies for the next ten years. I oppose the provision that would allow the Trump administration to sell off public lands to fossil fuel interests. I oppose the provision that would defund Planned Parenthood. I oppose the provision that would gut clean energy funding. I oppose the provision that would limit federal judges’ authority to hold government officials in contempt of court. I oppose the provision that would deny the child tax credit to 4.5 million kids. And I oppose the provision that would give the Treasury Department the power to revoke nonprofit status without due process.

This is a vicious, sneaky, murderous bill that guts programs Americans support—all to pay for tax cuts for the richest people and corporations. It’s disgusting. Vote no. Thank you.

Call Your Representative

For most of us, that’s Sam Liccardo. If you are not sure who your U.S. representative is, go here.

Sam Liccardo | 202-225-8104
