Make Your Calls

call to action for May 15, 2025

Background

Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced legislation Wednesday that would drastically cut Medicaid and other vital services, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). As many as 14 million low-income Americans will lose their healthcare benefits (Medicaid), and millions more who lose SNAP benefits will face food insecurity, if this horrendous bill passes.

Call Your Senators

Alex Padilla | 202-224-3553

Adam Schiff | 202-224-3841

Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [your zip code]. My name is [your full name].

I’m calling to ask Senator [NAME] to oppose the Republicans' budget reconciliation bill and its devastating cuts to vital government programs like Medicaid and SNAP. I’m also very concerned about … [Pick 1-3 additional budget provisions]

  • cuts to student aid
  • cuts to federal worker retirement benefits
  • defunding of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
  • the rollback of green energy grants
  • the partisan attack on federal regulations
  • Defense Department handouts to Elon Musk
  • the limit on federal judges’ ability to hold the Trump administration accountable

Congress should pass a fair and responsible budget that helps working families and communities, not one that slashes benefits to fund tax cuts for the wealthy. Thank you.

Call Your Representative

For most of us, that’s Sam Liccardo. If you are not sure who your U.S. representative is, go here.
